The Wealthiest Community in the New York City Region is…

For those of us living in and around New York City, whether Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey, Connecticut or one of the five boroughs, it can be hard to imagine what area is the ‘wealthiest’!

The term wealthy can have many different meanings but, for our purposes in this article, let’s use average annual household income. And in this area of the country, the potential choices are many.

If someone were to ask me the question of ‘what community in and around New York City was the ‘wealthiest’, I might opine Greenwich, Ct. by virtue of its history and reputation and as the home to many hedge funds and their owners. However, if I did say Greenwich, tI’d be wrong.

Of course Long Island and Westchester County are no slouches when it comes to great wealth either.

Sands Point might be a good candidate. located on the north shore of Long Island’s Gold Coast, but that too would be incorrect.

The Upper East Side of Manhattan or Saddle River, NJ could potentially qualify as well, only they do not.

The correct answer is Scarsdale, NY, just north of NYC and also home to the 10th Annual Heroes To Heroes Foundation Golf and Tennis Classic at Sunningdale Country Club!

‘The northern New York City suburbs continue to be among the wealthiest communities in the country.

Eight communities in Westchester County ranked on Bloomberg News’ 200 richest places in the U.S., the most of any county, with Scarsdale ranking second for the second straight year.

Scarsdale, less than 25 miles outside Manhattan with a population of about 17,000, had an average annual household income of $452,000, according to Bloomberg’s analysis this month of census data.

Scardale ranked behind only Atherton, Ca.’ (Source: lohud)
