Over the past few years readers of the Hallmark Abstract Service blog have heard about the non-denominational combat veterans 501(c)(3) Heroes To Heroes Foundation, its mission and various fundraising events we have held!
For anyone who may be new and unaware the Heroes To Heroes Foundation, through a program based in spirituality and peer support, successfully helps vets who have attempted suicide or where the fear is that such an attempt may be imminent.
The success is achieved through sending groups of 12-14 veterans on journey’s to Israel where they connect and travel with IDF soldiers.
They visit many of Israel’s spiritual and holy sites including the Western Wall, Stations of the Cross, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Yad Vashem and have the opportunity to be baptized in the River Jordan. They also visit programs supported by the Jewish National Fund, a valued Heroes To Heroes Foundation benefactor.
It is during this trip or sometimes soon after, that these men and women begin to reconnect with their faith and start the process of healing. We are happy and proud to say that all of the close to 200 men and women who have come through the Heroes To Heroes program all are with us in various stages of the healing process!
Our program has been so successful that we are broadening our mission to include active duty police officers in the program through Heroes To Heroes Blue. The same problem with suicide tragically affects these first responders as well.
